As part of their global expansion strategy, Plum & Ashby wanted to explore opportunities for their products in the Japanese market. They recognised that cultural sensitivity, local knowledge, and market expertise would be essential to successfully navigating market entry in Japan.
Solution
An initial market research was carried out to assess the opportunity for the Client. Following this assessment, Miyoko researched and carefully identified suitable potential distributors. She then approached the short-listed companies on the Client’s behalf in Japanese, gathering valuable market feedback and key insights to share with the Client throughout the process
Outcome
Through direct engagement with prospective partners, Miyoko successfully connected the Client with a distributor that closely matched their ideal partner profile, just in time for the CEO’s visit to Japan. Within months, Plum & Ashby’s products were launched in Japan through a locally designed website, pop-up store, press releases, and social media activities — establishing a strong foundation for future growth in Japan.

The Client was preparing to host a two-day visit from representatives of a prospective Japanese distributor. As this would be the guests’ first visit to the UK and neither representative was confident communicating in English, the Client required a bilingual interpreter who could accompany and support the visitors throughout their stay, ensuring both effective communication and a welcoming experience.
